THIS SEMINAR INVITES STUDENTS TO
THINK CRITICALLY ABOUT NATURE AND
EXPLORE THE URGENCY OF THIS
MOMENT-FROM GLOBAL WARMING TO
MASS EXTINCTIONS TO THE CURRENT
PANDEMIC AND PROTESTS AGAINST
POLICE BRUTALITY. THINKING WITH
"NATURE," STUDENTS WILL EXAMINE
THE POLITICS OF LIFE AND LOSS TO
EXPLORE THE FRAUGHT CATEGORY OF
"THE HUMAN," ENGAGE WITH THE
IMPACTS OF EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRY,
CONSIDER THE VITALITY OF TREES
AND GLACIERS, AND DISCUSS THE
SIGNIFICANCE OF GRIEF AND RAGE IN
ENVIRONMENTAL POLITICS. IN OUR
READINGS, DISCUSSIONS, AND
WRITTEN WORK, WE WILL CENTER
RACE, INDIGENEITY, COLONIALITY,
DISABILITY, SEXUALITY, AND OTHER
VECTORS OF DIFFERENCE.
