RACE, SEXUALITY, GENDER: THIS COURSE WILL ENGAGE THE THEORIZATION OF CONTEMPORARY SOCIAL DIFFERENCE. WE PAY PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO RACE, GENDER AND SEXUALITY AS FORMS OF SOCIAL DIFFERENCE HIGHLY CODIFIED BY CONTEMPORARY SYSTEMS OF POWER. THROUGH A FOCUS ON QUEER OF COLOR ACTIVISM AND CULTURAL PRODUCTION WILL STUDY THE WAYS IN WHICH SOCIAL DIFFERENCES ARE CHANGING THE TERRAIN OF POLITICS AND THE CULTURAL EXPERIENCE OF DYING AND LIVING.
Catalog Description:
Investigates the theoretical and practical problems of interpretation and knowledge production in a topic chosen by the instructor. Primarily for majors. Prerequisite: CHID 101.
