GIVEN THE CURRENT POLITICAL
CLIMATE, THIS COURSE REFLECTS ON
THE ROLE OF VISUAL ARTS, FILM,
MUSIC, PROSE, POETRY, AND THEATER
IN RESPONDING TO CONFLICT. THE
GOAL OF THE COURSE IS TO
UNDERSTAND THE ROLE OF PROTEST AND
DISSENT IN THE 20TH AND 21ST
CENTURY. HOW IMPORTANT IS ART AS A
FORM OF PROTEST? HOW EFFECTIVE IS
IT AS A CONDUIT OF CHANGE? THE
STUDENTS' RESPONSES WILL TAKE THE
FORMS OF WRITTEN REFLECTIONS AND
STATEMENTS, IMAGES, AND SHORT FILM
OR PERFORMANCE. READINGS AND
DISCUSSIONS WILL BE IN ENGLISH.
