Seattle, United States
We are living in a moment of paradox: the COVID-19 pandemic has hindered our ability to engage with others outside of our usual circles, yet it also reveals overlapping crises of health, inequality, and injustice that demand our collaboration. Meanwhile, so many of us are looking for connection, inspiration, and pathways for outward movement.
Widening Circles is a new five-credit, online "Study Away" program that responds to this moment by offering a digital ecosystem of relationships, social impact internship opportunities, curated curriculum, and multimedia storytelling.
This program is open to all UW students. It can support your existing commitments and / or point you towards new opportunities. The program is structured enough to give you a sense of direction, yet expansive and adaptable. - CHID 399: Internship (5 credits, I&S)
The course fees cover the cost of running the program through CHID Study Abroad and Omprakash, a Seattle-based non-profit global network of social impact organizations, volunteers, learners, donors, and doers working since 2004 to build relationships and raise consciousness. Course fees will be charged in addition to Winter quarter tuition and are eligible for financial aid.
