SEMINAR IN PUBLIC WRITING - WRITING FOR GOOD - CRITICAL AI STUDIES (AH, W) ___ NOTE: WILL BE CHANGED TO TH 1130AM- 220PM ____ WRITING-INTENSIVE SEMINAR WITH WEEKLY PEER REVIEW AND WORKSHOPPING THE UNIFYING THEME IS AI AND ME. STUDENTS WILL 1 READ RESEARCH IN TH EMERGING ACADEMIC FIELD OF CRITICAL AI STUDIES; 2 WRITE ENGAGING CONTEN SUCH AS PODCAST SCRIPTS OR LETTERS TO THE EDITOR AND PEER REVIEW OTHER WRITING, TO DEMONSTRATE THE BROAD RELEVANCE AND INTEREST OF CRITICAL AI STUDIES; AND 3 REFLECT IN AN OPEN-ENDED WAY ON THEIR OWN RELATIONSHIP WITH THE TECHNOLOGIES KNOWN AS AI. Catalog Description:
Writing seminar focused on translating artistic and humanistic knowledge into forms and genres accessible to the public. Explores writing as an intellectual practice oriented toward the public good. Students learn how to craft narratives for various publics, including museums, art galleries, newspapers, and general audiences.
