HOW ARE OUR LIVES BOUND WITH ANIMALS, PLANTS, INSECTS, ROCKS, WATERWAYS AND OTHER NONHUMAN BEINGS IN A MOMENT MARKED BY INCREASING SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL PRECARITY, HOW ARE CONCERNS OF SOCIAL, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND MULTISPECIES JUSTICE INTERTWINED? THIS COURSE WILL EXAMINE APPROACHES TO ENVIRONMENTAL THINKING, RESEARCH, AND WRITING THAT HAVE SOUGHT TO CONSIDER WORLDS BEYOND THE HUMAN

Introduces central concepts and concerns within the environmental humanities. Includes scholarly debates in the field in relationship to wider cultural, political, and historical contexts as well as the imperatives of environmental justice.
