SACRED EARTH POLITICS (AH, SSC)
___
THIS COURSE EXAMINES HOW PEOPLE
RELATE TO ANIMALS, PLANTS, LAND,
WATER, AND OTHER NON-HUMAN BEINGS,
AND HOW THESE RELATIONSHIPS SHAPE
IDEAS OF CARE, RACE, AND BELONGING.
IT ASKS WHO IS SEEN AS BELONGING TO
A PLACE, WHO PROTECTS IT, AND HOW
THOSE ROLES EMERGE FROM HISTORY,
CULTURE, AND BELIEF. THROUGH
RELIGION, STORYTELLING, AND
ACTIVISM, STUDENTS LEARN THAT IDEAS
ABOUT NATURE REFLECT POWER AND
IDENTITY, SHAPING HOW LAND IS VALUE
AND CLAIMED.
