QUEER AND INDIGENOUS STUDIES (AH) ___ THIS SEMINAR INVESTIGATES THE HISTORICAL ALLIANCES, ACTIVISM, AND CONFLICTS THAT HAVE EMERGED WITH QUEER AND INDIGENOUS STUDIES. AFTER UNDERSTANDING THE FORMATION OF THES E FIELDS, STUDENTS WILL READ, ANALYZE , AND DISCUSS THE WORK OF SCHOLARS LI KE GLORIA ANZALDUA, QWO-LI DRISKALL, ANDREA SMITH, MARK RIFKIN AND SCOTT LAURIA MORGENSEN.
Catalog Description:
Explores the contemporary cultural and political transformations advanced by Indigenous peoples and their advocates around the world. Examines the concept of indigeneity, the cultural politics of Indigenous mobilization, and the effects of international development policies on Indigenous communities. Offered: jointly with JSIS A 280.
