"UPSIDE DOWN THINKING WITH THE GLOBAL SOUTH" (W, I&S) IN THINKING ABOUT GLOBAL, POST- IMPERIAL POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC PROJECTS IN AFRICA, THE AMERICAS, ASIA, AND THE MIDDLE EAST, THIS SEMINAR PROVIDES A CRITICAL INTRODUCTION TO DEBATES OVER NATION, STATE, DEVELOPMENT, AND GLOBALIZATION. STUDENTS WILL EXPLORE "MODERNITY" AS A SET OF INTELLECTUAL, CULTURAL, POLITICAL, AND ECONOMIC PROJECTS THAT HAVE CREATED NEW HORIZONS OF PROSPERITY AND TREMENDOUS SUFFERING.
