"RADICANT MATHEMATICS" TAUGHT BY: JAYADEV ATHREYA *OFFERED JOINTLY WITH MATH 380 IN THIS WRITING-INTENSIVE COURSE, STUDENTS WILL STUDY THE DIFFERENT CULTURAL, HISTORICAL, ARTISTIC, AND SCIENTIFIC RESONANCES OF MATHEMATICS, GUIDED BY THEIR PASSIONS AND INTERESTS. USING CASE STUDIES AND EXAMPLES, THE COURSE WILL EXPLORE THE WIDELY VARIED ROOTS OF MATHEMATICS AND HOW MATH HAS BEEN ENRICHED BY CONTRIBUTIONS FROM A WIDE RANGE OF PEOPLE AND CIVILIZATIONS ACROSS HISTORY.
