"THEORY SCHMEARY" IN THIS CLASS, WE'LL ENCOUNTER THREE BODIES OF THOUGHT THAT OFFER FOUNDATIONAL CRITIQUES OF THE ENLIGHTENMENT SUBJECT: MARXISM, PSYCHOANALYSIS, AND GENEALOGICAL THINKING INDEBTED TO NIETZSCHE AND ELABORATED IN THE WORK OF MICHEL FOUCAULT. WE'LL ALSO EXPLORE SOME CRITICAL TRADITIONS THAT ADDRESS THE OMISSIONS AND LIMITS OF THESE BODIES OF THOUGHT TO AUGUR THE MOBILIZATION OF A COUNTER- MODERNITY: KEY INTERVENTIONS WITHIN POSTCOLONIAL, FEMINIST, QUEER, AND CRITICAL RACE STUDIES. AS WE PROCEED, WE'LL MARK SOME SIGNIFICANT "TURNS" IN CRITICAL THOUGHT, AND IN THE PROCESS, YOU'LL INCREASE YOUR FACILITY AND FAMILIARITY WITH A RANGE OF THEORETICAL TEXTS AND DEBATES!
