CHID Faculty & Staff: Major Book Releases

Submitted by Sophia Choto on

Over the course of the past two years, a number of our CHID Staff & Faculty have had
major book releases:

CHID Professor Dr. María Elena García explored the intersections of race, species and
capital to reveal links between gastronomy and violence in Peru in Gastropolitics
and the Specter of Race: Stories of Capital, Culture, and Coloniality in
Peru.

CHID Professor Dr. Anu Taranath examined thought-provoking questions on travel in
Beyond Guilt Trips: Mindful Travel in an Unequal World, providing us with
tools to grapple with discomfort and differences when exploring the world, as well as
our responsibility to accountability and connection when being abroad.

CHID Professors and faculty have also translated literature into English. CHID
Professor Dr. Mary E Childs has an upcoming release in the form of Form 100 by
Zviad Kvaratskhelia, translated from Georgian, due out in Autumn.

In addition, CHID Professor & Director of Study Abroad Dr. Nicolaas P. Barr saw his
most recent translation publication in Djinn, a memoir of Moroccan-Dutch politician
Tofik Dibi, translated from Dutch.

Congratulations to all our Chiddies!
