Erin Clowes and CHID Study Abroad featured in Perspectives

Submitted by Naraelle Kristin Hohensee on

Led by Erin Clowes as part of the CHID Winter 2014 “Legacies of Empires” study abroad program in Rome, Budapest, and Prague, "CHID 470: Deconstructing Identities: Roma Identity Discourse" forged connections between UW students and the marginalized Roma community. Now their work is featured in UW's April Perspectives Newsletter

As the article explains, Clowes and her students worked with Roma scholars, artists, activists, and community members to learn from them and begin to raise awareness about their status in Italy and across Europe. Their collaborative work (including photography, artworks, events, discussions, and a blog) can also be viewed on the course website.
