Biography

Dr. Eric Opoku Agyemang brings over 15 years of expertise in global service learning, community development, community leadership, and human rights. Since 2008, Eric has led and engaged over 600 international students in experiential learning and community service projects in West Africa through the Cheerful Hearts Foundation and Patriots Ghana, non-profits he co-founded. A Fellow of President Obama's Young African Leaders Initiative, he currently serves as Leadership Programs Director at Puget Sound Sage, where he recruits, trains, and places emerging leaders from BIPOC and low-income communities to serve on strategic, city, county, and statewide boards and commissions, and elected positions. Dr. Agyemang is a Research Scientist at the University of Washington's Social Development Research Group. He has taught graduate and undergraduate courses at UW, including Organizational Practice, Introduction to Social Welfare, and Research Methods. He obtained his Ph.D. in Social Welfare and a concurrent Graduate Certificate in International Development Policy and Management from the University of Washington. He also holds a Master's in Social Work (Administration and Policy) from the University of Washington and a Bachelor's in Business Administration and Management from the Methodist University of Ghana.
