Dong Ha and Hanoi, Viet Nam

This program explores the legacy of war and ongoing rebuilding efforts in Viet Nam. In partnership with PeaceTrees Vietnam, a Seattle-based organization working on land mine clearance and environmental/community restoration in Quang Tri Province, our group of 12-18 students will pursue historical studies in Ha Noi and Hue and participate in community-building projects with local people in and around Dong Ha, near the former Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).
- CHID 498: Understanding Contemporary Viet Nam (2 credits)
- HSTAS 265/JSIS A 265 or equivalent: The Viet Nam Wars (5 credits)
- CHID 475: S.E. Asia Study Abroad: Engaged Community Learning (5 credits)
*Please note that this cost does not include UW Study Abroad (IPE) Fee ($300), airfare, Study Abroad Insurance ($37/month) and personal spending money.
Students applying to the Viet Nam program should also apply for the Freeman-ASIA study abroad scholarship! The deadline is in mid-February.
